Casing Laura!

For this card, I cased a card in Laura's gallery on SCS. You can see her card here.
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/839510?cat=500&ppuser=18892

I kept the layout and the strawberries, but changed the bg to white. I think I like Laura's better, with the red behind the images. Oh well. It is such a fun card. I'm sure it will bring a smile to the recipient.

Last of the challenge cards! Day 5

So, here is the last challenge card of the week from Denise @ http://allthingsstamped.blogspot.com

It is a monogram card using my favorite color, and for myself. What fun. I love monogram cards.

Mine is made with a regal rose base. I embossed the cuttlebug fancy corners across the top, and on the regal rose circle the K is mounted on. The K was die cut with the cuttlebug Olivia alphabet using the rose red dp. That is mounted onto the dp scallop circle. I added the wide purely pomegranate ribbon, which I dearly love. It has such an elegant look to it, imho. I also rounded the bottom corners and added rhinestone brads to the centers of the embossing.

What do you think?

Accent? What accent?

Dawn had this fun result on her blog today, so I went and tried it to see if I really have an accent. Of course, I don't think I do, and guess what! I am right! I don't really have one. Here are my results:

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

That was kind of fun. If you would like to take the quiz, go here: http://www.gotoquiz.com/what_american_accent_do_you_have

Shimmery piano!

Hello! Today's SCS challenge was to use something you spray on your creation. Well, shimmer mist is sprayed and is a beautiful look. I only have silver. I have wanted gold forever, but it is always sold out when I go to get it. Someday.

Anyway, for this card, I sprayed the silver shimmer mist on the almost amethyst card stock. Wow is it ever gorgeous. Then I ran it through the cuttlebug with the small folder Fancy Corners, just down the right side. The piano image was sent to me by Dawn. Thanks Dawn, I love it. I sprayed it with shimmer mist too. Tied a little black and silver organdy ribbon on and heated it. I love the look that adds to this ribbon. Oh yeah, I mounted the piano image onto a scrap of black I had from a project that it didn't work out on. It is actually clear embossed with Tres Chic bg stamp, but I had to turn it sideways. Tell me you can't notice. I don't think it makes a difference. So, what do you think of this one? Have a great stamping day!

Lovely lady

Here is my Thursday card for Denise's blog challenge.

Tag = Hi Lady

Red = lots

Bling = brads in the corners and stickles on the flower

My favorite color is pink (well, that's the predominant color in my closet, so it must be. lol)
My favorite song is Always (It is a real oldie, but my grandfather sang it and we have a recording of him singing it. He had a great voice. He sang it at the wedding receptions of his children, and we often sing it at funerals of these wonderful people, so it is dear to my heart.
My favorite candy is Dove dark chocolate. Yummy stuff, and it's good for you!

Smile!

This is a card I created for day 3 of Denise's blog challenge. I came back and added more polka dots to be sure I wouldn't be disqualified for not having polka dots.

Blog contest

So Denise Bryant commented on my purple bird card and suggested I enter her blog contest. So of course I did. lol She has a lovely blog, be sure to check it out here: http://allthingsstamped.blogspot.com/

So today's challenge on her blog is to make a black and white 4X4 card. So, here it is. I love the simplicity of it.

Stamp something and have a great day!

Little Baby Bundle

I love this card I created for the SCS color challenge: Soft Sky, Whisper White, Basic Gray. This image worked perfectly, as did the colors, for this wonderful baby boy card. Don't you think? I stamped the image with soft sky ink and then stamped over it with versamark and clear embossed. The rest I'll bet you can figure out. Thanks for stopping by!

I've never seen a purple bird

until now. I just love this dp and wanted to use it on a card with a bird, so I made it purple. Shouldn't we have purple birds? I think they would be awesome! So, I made one. Who says we can only color things the way nature does? lol
Denise commented on this card and suggested I join the challenges on her blog this week. What fun. Be sure to check her blog: http://allthingsstamped.blogspot.com/

Enjoy!

Connor

And now to show you Connor's real personality. The bottom picture on here makes me laugh everytime I look at it. He was just horsing around with his little toy tools and he has the saw to his neck and this funny look on his face. You've gotta smile looking at this one. What would you like to see as a caption for this?
His favorite show is Handy Manny, but he calls him Handy Mandy. lol He loves tools and fixing things, and he is amazingly good at it. He is also a messer deluxe, as we like to call him. He is always up to something.

Introducing my grands!

Well now you can get a look at my cute granchildren. Now don't get the idea I am old. They are getting big, but I refuse to get older. And remember, I started very very young. lol

Dylan is 8, Tyler is 11, Ashley is 5 - almost 6, Connor is 4, and Kylee is 6 months old!

Faith Dotting and a Featured Stamper!

Faith has been on my mind a lot the last couple of days, and then I found out she has gotten some news from her oncologist that is not so good. When I made my card for today's featured stamper, I added lots of Faith dotting and a sentiment just for her. I hope you like it. If you want more info, check it out in my SCS gallery.

Have a great Easter Sunday!

Saturday - Inspiration!

Hello everybody! Well, I'm pretty much talking to myself, but that's okay. lol

Today I made a card using an inspiration piece posted by Stef on SCS. It is a beautiful bracelet. Oh wait, I know, I'll attach the photo of it. Well, I was inspired by all the beautiful shades of blue in the sea glass. I love those soft blue colors, so I went with that for my card. I don't have any shells or images like that in my stamp collection. Hmmmm, I see a void I may need to fill. lol
The card base is Cool Caribbean, with the birds and swirls cuttlebug folder. I used the negative effect technique from Monday with cool caribbean ink brayered inside the folder and onto soft sky cs. It is such a soft and lovely look. The heart and always are stamped with versamark onto soft sky and clear embossed and mounted onto cool caribbean. I think I've told you before how much I love clear embossing! ; ) The polka dot layer is a piece of the soft sky dp. I added a few pearls and ribbon and here you go. What do you think of my seaside charm card? Did I capture the feeling in the inspiration piece?

Happy Friday!

What a beautiful day it is here today! I hope you are having a wonderful day too!

These cards are for the limited supply challenge on SCS today. I used the same stamp, the same designer paper (both sides), but changed the layout and the solid card stocks and embellishments. Can you choose one you like better than the other? I think I prefer the one on the right just a bit more. If you would like more details, visit my gallery on SCS where I've put all the details.

Bye!

Last, but not least.

Does this look familiar? Yes, I cased my own card. lol Well, I really liked the first one, so why not do it again? I love the look of it, how about you? I used a chocolate chip card base and added pretty in pink strips which had been cuttlebugged with the swiss dot folder. I told you I love that! The rest of it is virtually the same card I created a few days ago, if you are interested in the details. This time I added the tag which is the word window punch in white, pink and brown and layered. I inked up the congrats with pink and brown marker and stamped it on the shimmery white cs before punching it out. I added the double sided dotted ribbon and - another darling card. Oh yeah, the whole thing is matted onto a pink base, and I added a swiss dotted pink strip to the bottom of the inside of the brown card so it shows when the card is closed. So, what do you think?

Life is just a chair of bowlies!

That saying has always made me smile, as I think this card will make you smile. I made it for a friend's mother who has just been diagnosed with leukemia. Not a pretty thing to look forward to, but if this card helps take her mind away from it for even a second, it will be well worth it.

I stamped the cherries onto shimmery white cs and cut them out. Then I added red glitter. I used my white gel pen to add highlights on the cherries. The tag they are mounted on is white cs. I inked up the negative side of my cuttlebug swiss dot folder with real red ink and ran it through. I love the look, but wish the ink had been a bit darker. Oh well, it is what it is. I mounted that on the green side of the dp and then onto real red card stock. It was a little boring so I added what I like to call, Faith dotting. Faith Hofrichter adds lots of dots in this manner to her creations, and since it is for her Mom, I thought it very fitting. lol Hi Faith! The sentiment is stamped in red then I Faith dotted the outer edge with a red marker, added a red mat and dotted it with the white gel pen. I love the hardware with the red brads, don't you? Added our lovely red gingham ribbon and a bow to the tag and the sentiment and voila - a cheery card!!! Oops, forgot to mention I ran the red cs base and the designer paper (SU's Summer Picnic through the swiss dot cuttlebug folder too. I love that folder. It is one of my very favorites! So, do you think this will bring a smile? I sure hope so!

Tag, Tag and Tag!

Julia challenged us to use tags on our creations today. Well, I couldn't stop at just one, so I made three . . . so far! Who knows, the day is still young here. lol

The first one is using a new stamp set, Prehistoric Pals, being released by Treehouse Stamps tomorrow, the 21st of March. The card base was stamped with the stones in the set and then I ran it through the cuttlebug with the distressed stripes folder. For the tag, I stamped the volcano on basic gray cs, cut it out and used two way glue and red glitter for the lava. I love the way that looks. Next I stamped this darling dinosaur with wild wasabi ink onto the certainly celery dp and cut her out. I say her because she has the cutest eyes. I glued her to the tag and then stamped the sentiment. I omitted part of it, by using my marker. Originally it said, Friends til extinction. I had to add a lot of lava to this one, it's for my dh. I added some green fibers to coordinate with the dinosaur and a little black hemp just for fun. What do you think of this one?

Wednesday's sketch challenge!

Rox posts such great sketch challenges on SCS every Wednesday. Today I used dp for the three different blocks and textured card stock for the base and the bordering strips on my card.

I stamped the sentiment on the oval and sponged around the edges with river rock and blue bayou inks. I positioned the hardware to frame the sentiment and used the brads to hold it in place. I really like this look and will be using it again and again, I'm sure.

Color challenge is right!

So today's colors are Sage Shadow, Orchid Opulence and Kraft. Orchid Opulence is not one of my favorites. It's pretty loud for me, but I gave it a shot and I am pretty happy with the look. Of course I kept that color to a minimum, using Kraft as the most dominant color. I colored the stamp with markers and stamped, then went over the image with a little of the pastels. I like that look. I distressed all the panel edges and added the ribbon. I offset the panel to keep the words on the background legible, wanting this to be a thanks card. So, what do you think of these colors?

So sad!

A small child was killed in an accident and I needed a sympathy card. I love the softness of this. I inked up the negative side of the small embossing folder and put my paper thru the cuttlebug twice. I then used my scor-pal to add lines above and below. The sentiment is computer generated. Then the gorgeous taffeta ribbon adds another soft touch.

Silly and sillier????

These dinosaurs just make me think in a funny way, I guess. I really like the look of the one on top of the other. Don't they just look like bff? lol And then my mind really took a turn and I decided to add bunny ears to the brontosaurus. And dinosaurs did come from eggs, right? So, isn't it a perfect Easter card? Well, maybe not, but it was kind of fun.

Monochromatic - ahhhhhh!

I love the look of monochromatic. Isn't it relaxing? For this card, I stamped the hummingbird image with versamark and clear embossed on soft sky cs. I also love the designer paper from SU! called afternoon tea - it just has such a soft look. Well, put them all together and here is what you get. What do you think?

B is for birthday!

This card really says birthday, doesn't it? It is for the inspiration challenge on SCS and one of the details in the inspiration piece was a buckle on a boot. I took the colors and the buckle and went with it. I like the result, and hope you do too!

LOL, what a story!

There seems to be a little rivalry going on with the SCS challenge today. To get the whole story you need to go to the following cards and read all the posts. Warning: you may need to put on your depends!

Here are the links:

and then there is mine!

Gift bag inspired!

Today's SCS challenge was to use no tools, other than the paper cutter and scissors. Guess what, I did it! My card was inspired by a gift bag I used for my niece's bridal shower last night.

This is a pink card base with 1/2" strips of white glued on. The bottom scallop was made by tracing the bottom of a stickles bottle and cutting it out with scissors. You thought I'd used a punch, didn't you? lol Nope! The flower was stamped after coloring the stamp with SU markers and then I added the grey dots with a going gray marker. I also added dazzling diamonds to the petals. A girl's gotta have bling! I mounted it onto Basic Gray cs and cut it out. I added the white dots (Faith dotting, I like to call it) with my white signo gel pen. The ribbon is the yummy going gray taffeta ribbon from SU! I love that ribbon. The sentiment is one of the Sale-a-bration rub ons. That was easy!

Remembering Ben!

This new set from Treehouse stamps is so cute. This image really reminded me of my little boy (now 30! How did that happen) when he wore his cowboy duds. I loved it. The details are in my SCS gallery, if you are interested.

I paper pieced his shirt, of course. Isn't he darn tootin' cute? Yippeeeeee!

Today's SCS challenge - a sketch

Okay, so I did today's sketch challenge, uploaded it, and when I look at it, all I see is a big old pig face! Hmmmm, maybe no one else will notice. lol

This is better!

I am not too happy with my first challenge card today. Everytime I look at it, I see a pig face. Now that's not good for a sweet little notecard. Unless you are trying to tie in a pig theme, but I wasn't. So, to redeem myself I made this one using one of the Treehouse stamps sets coming out Friday, March 14, called Quiet Dreams. I love the image of this little girl, and the sentiment too. I used my new cuttlebug paisley embossing folder, a splash of red, and I watercolored the image. I like this one much better. What do you think?

This is my favorite!

Today's color challenge was to use Basic Black, Basic Gray, and Purely Pomegranate. What a great combination of colors. Many striking cards were created with these colors and uploaded to the SCS gallery.

I stamped my images over and over again using versamark and clear embossing on the textured Purely Pomegranate card stock. I love the resultant panel. I mounted that on a piece of basic gray card stock. The black panel is embossed with the textile texture cuttlebug embossing folder. I love this folder. I probably use it more than any other. Then I added more of this luscious satin ribbon. You can't go wrong with luscious ribbon, can you? The sentiment is mounted on a die cut slide, again using my trusty little cuttlebug, and a circle punch and then the word window punch, which was also punched with the circle to get the right shape to fit on the larger circle. I like how that looks.

Black, Gray and Pomegranate

This card uses all Treehouse stamps. Be sure to check their website for all the goodies.

I stamped the Elegant Orchid image twice with black craft ink and embossed with clear ep. Have I ever mentioned how much I love clear ep! It's da bomb baby. I used it on almost everything I create. I colored in the image with a damp paintbrush and ink. I mounted it on the basic gray paper and then onto the main card which was embossed with the cuttlebug folder, birds & swirls. I tried something a little diffeent with the ribbon as I wanted to hide where the two images meet. So I used a buckle in the center of this gorgeous satin ribbon! It's so luscious, isn't it? I stamped the sentiment with purely pomegranate ink and just cut it into a rectangular shape and mounted it on more basic gray card stock.

Faux Cloisonne' 1

This was my first faux cloisonne of the day. I actually used a photo of pajamas with a cute pattern for the tulips. After embossing, I colored the leaves portion with a marker. I'm not so sure I love it, but . . . it is what it is. The stamps used are from Treehouse stamps. I love these little tulips. What do you think of it?

Faux Cloisonne'

Well, the technique challenge was faux cloisonne. I've done this before and I think my results were better. These are okay, I guess.

I just couldn't get Easter eggs out of my head for this challenge, so this card with the black background is Easter eggs. I like the results. I used a page from a Papercrafts magazine and stamped my images with versamark and used gold detail embossing powder. Then I cut out the images. I really like the three flowers at the base of the egg. What do you think of this creation?

And a cherry on top!

Sorry I haven't updated my blog the last few days. Honestly, I keep forgetting all about it. Well, I am going to post a few more creations today. I have been stamping and having a great time.

This card was done for the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS. For all the details, check out my gallery on SCS. I changed the images from strawberries to cherries. I love this tart & tangy set and the new designer papers that go with it, called Summer Picnic. Mmmmm, the colors are delightful and the designs sublime.

We have a winner!

Congratulations to JAR who said: Well, I would treasure that lovely pink creation since pink is my fav color! And your siggy line sent me! LOL

Congratulations Judy. Luckily I have your address, so be on the lookout for this card!

Thank you all for visiting my blog and leaving comments. I appreciate each of them. Have a great week!

Little Ladybug

I am going to my grand niece's first birthday party today. I got her the cutest little outfit, a serving dish, flatware and a cup with ladybugs on them. So of course I needed a card to go with the gift. Treehouse stamps has this cute little ladybug stamp which will be released March 28th, so I am giving you a sneak peek!

This card measures 2-1/2X3 inches.

The ladybug is a new Treehouse stamp which will be released March 28th. Isn't she cute?

I stamped her with black craft ink, and clear embossed, then colored in the black spots. Unfortunately I smeared that and that is why I cut away the right side of the front of the card. I am actually glad I made the mistake. I like it this way, and it left room to add the mini ladybugs up the side. They are in the Treehouse stamps Spring mini set which is on sale now! I stamped the flower portion again with the black craft ink, clear embossing on Summer Sun paper and cut it out and covered the red flower that was with the image. I wanted the wing to be a flap, so I stamped the image again, cutting out just the wings and added a tiny piece of clear acetate as a hinge and adhered it to the already stamped image. I love how that turned out. It is so cute irl.

I hope you like it!

Mini cards

Today's SCS challenge was to make mini cards using scraps. I always have plenty of those around, so this was fun.

The piano image was graciously sent to me by dawnmercedes. Thanks Dawn. It made for a perfect little card. It measures 3X3-1/4. The sentiment is from Abundant Joy.

The branch is from a set released today from Treehouse stamps, called Simply Organic. It's a beautiful and versatile set. The sentiment is from a set called Quiet Moments, being released next Friday, March 14. Be sure to visit their website for even more wonderful images.

Want to give this one a new home?

This is my favorite card I've made with the new stamps. If you would like to win this card to keep for your very own, you have to promise to give it a really good home, and love and admire it. lol To win it, leave a comment and then get someone else to visit my blog and tell me that you sent them. Fair enough? I'll choose a winner on Monday, March 10th!

The stamp was colored with markers and then stamped. I added the falling and blowing blossoms with the itty bitty backgrounds stamp. The sentiment is also from Treehouse stamps. I love the look of the cherry trees with that super dark bark and those beautiful light pink blossoms. What a glorious sight. I'll miss them this year. I don't live back there anymore.

Thanks for dropping by!

new stamps

Here is a card using some of the new stamps being released by Treehouse stamps on Friday, March 7. How do you like it? This is from the Simply Organic set. I love the look of this one. I stamped the blossom part with white craft ink and embossed with white ep. The stem is just colored on the stamp with marker. The flying fluff is actually Itty Bitty bg's. Doesn't it go perfectly with the stamp?

My Candy Boxes

These are the candy boxes I've made. I created the template myself. I have the pattern below if you would like to try it. The Easter box is using the Spring Mini set that will be released tomorrow at Treehousestamps.com Tonight is the release party from 9PM-midnight, then the new stamps will be released at 12:01 AM!

Here is the pattern I created for my candy box. I've had a lot of requests for the pattern, so thought I would post it here on my blog. If you use it, let me know. I would love to see your creations.

And another!

This card is using one of the sneak peek images from Treehouse Stamps. Be sure to check out the release party on Thursday night, March 6. You may win some of the new stamps!

I first coated the stamped image with clear paint, just to seal it so I could water color it. I then used a wet paint brush and ink to color the images. I used a little so saffron for the center of the flowers and clear embossed over that. Then I colored the flower with the Purely Pomegranate. When that dried, I added the white detail I saw on a photo of a real orchid. I loved that. I stamped happiness with the Purely Pomegranate ink too. I mounted it all on black for pop and then the wild wasabi textured paper. All that was mounted on the so saffron card base which had been embossed with the birds and swirls folder and my beloved cuttlebug. I added the black ribbon, cutting the ends short to simulate birds. I can see it, can you? lol I hope you like it!
