Three cheers for the

red, white and blue!

Happy 4th of July!

First of all – THANK YOU to all those who have so faithfully served and are now serving this great

country – the U S A! Also, thank you

to their families that are sacrificing so much while their loved ones serve.

We started the celebration Saturday night by going to a festival and fireworks display. I have a nephew serving overseas right now and his father wrote this, “The fireworks display, which is usually a wonderful reminder of ‘bombs bursting in air’ reminded us that Jake is working with real bombs.”

Yesterday at church we sang patriotic songs and prayed for the service men and women. Today we are thinking of them as  we get together with family and friends to celebrate our freedoms that so many have paid such a huge price to give us. Once again we will be watching fireworks, but with a very different perspective as we think of those serving our country, especially my nephew.

Now – baseball, hot dogs and apple pie!

Here are pictures of the apple pie I just put into the oven which we will enjoy later on today. Mmmmm, I can’t wait to have a piece!

Happy 4th of July to all of you! God bless the

U S A!

If you have never used one of these, you are really missing out! It was so much fun watching the apples being peeled, cored and sliced. I’ll have to do it again when my grands are over. They will love it too!

That’s right, you cook it in a brown paper bag! Ooooo, it smells so good in my house!
